Kamativi Mining Company (KMC) refurbishes the Kamativi community hall
KAMATIVI - On Wednesday 31st July 2024, Kamativi Mining Company (KMC) hosted a handover ceremony of the recently renovated Kamativi Community Auditorium, adding new contributions towards development of the Kamativi community infrastructure.
The community auditorium had been abandoned for years following the closure of Kamativi Tin Mines (KTM) leading to the roof collapsing, making it inhabitable and inaccessible to host events.
The event was attended by scores of people including KMC General Manager Mr. Ye Jianguo, local government representatives, local chiefs, community leaders, village representatives and community members.
To enhance the cohesion and sense of belonging of the community, KMC made a good investment of manpower and resources. The restoration of the Kamativi auditorium to its former glory was spearheaded Mr Wei Xu, Head of the Mining Construction department. New windows and doors were installed while ablution facilities were spruced up, with the overall infrastructure topped up with a fresh coat of paint. The auditorium resumes as an important place for community gatherings.
During the handover ceremony, Mr Ye Jianguo gave a keynote speech emphasizing the need to assimilate KMCs developmental values into the Kamativi community.
“KMC always insists on closely integrating the development of enterprises with the prosperity of the community, and strives to create a better living environment for the community. We believe that enterprises are not only the promoters of economic growth, but also the practitioners of social responsibility. The completion of this auditorium once again witnessed KMC's commitment to development, gaining future confidence from the Kamativi community. KMC Company will continue to fulfill its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives, actively participate in community development while contributing to the social-economic fabric of the Kamativi community.
Local chiefs present applauded the investment by KMC into Kamativi, adding that local residents are fortunate to experience, enjoy and benefit from continuous developments being done by KMC.
The chiefs appreciated how KMC has created employment for local people and improved the living standards of the once neglected Kamativi community. KMC has positively impacted on the social and economic developments in the community which include, but not limited to infrastructure development such as road construction and rehabilitation, new dam construction to ensure water availability for both people and livestock, borehole drilling to provide clean water to the Kamativi residents, electricity restoration, solar provision and periodic donations to the local police, clinic and schools.
Local government representatives and community leaders also expressed their sincere gratitude to KMC.
