KMC has partnered with the local community, various stakeholders and contractors to keep Kamativi clean. We strive to keep the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) up-to-date to ensure compliance with the Environmental Management Act Chapter 20.27.
As a consciously environmentally friendly organisation, we conduct periodic training on integrated waste management, sustainable use of resources and environmental monitoring. KMC complies to Environmental Days such as the National Tree Planting Day. The company purchased trees to motivate the Kamativi community to plant and conserve trees, enhance biodiversity and household food security. The company is pursuing sustainable purchasing to ensure KMC contributes to reduction of the carbon footprint.

Since inception of our operations, we have reported ZERO environmental accidents at Kamativi Mining Company.
We have been, and remain compliant to the National Clean-Up declaration by His Excellence, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa to keep Zimbabwe clean.


Ethics and Compliance

KMC shall support and reinforce positive human rights and sustainability outcomes through its value chain.
- EMA Compliance
Compliance and certification through Environmental Management Agency (EMA) is prioritized.
EMA is mandated with protecting the environment, prevention of pollution and land degradation.
- NSSA Compliance
When National Social Security Authority (NSSA) inspectors visit a mine, their main area of concern is workers' social security issues. The purpose for the Accident Prevention and Worker's Compensation Scheme (APWC) is to assess the employer's risk and coming up with the rate (%) the employer will use to pay premiums the following year.
- SAZ and ISO Certification
KMC shall engage the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) for various ISO Certifications standards to ensure the company
meets global standards of operation and compliance.
ISO standards are developed and published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to ensure best practices, safety, and quality in the mining sector.

- IRMA Certification
KMC is also working towards getting the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) certification which is a global demand for more socially and environmentally responsible mining, i.e. a global initiative thriving for investors and mining companies to adopt “responsible mining and investments” standards.
IRMA's vision is that of a world in which the mining industry is respectful of the human rights and the aspirations of affected communities; provides safe, healthy and respectful workplaces; avoids or minimizes harm to the environment; and leaves positive legacies.
